TC Electronic cease further PowerCore development

UAD2 crossgrade offer announced

TC Electronic have announced that they will no longer be developing the software for their PowerCore range of DSP processors. “With the recent release of software version 4.0”, they say, “PowerCore is fully compatible with current operating systems and DAWs — 32-bit as well as 64-bit.” The Danish company will, however, still be selling the PowerCore hardware and plug-ins, and user support for these will continue to be provided.

There is a silver lining to this potentially slightly worrying announcement, however: TC are offering a ‘value pack’ of UAD plug-ins by way of compensation, to PowerCore users who buy and register a Universal Audio UAD2 processor. The offer lasts from February 1st to June 30th, and applies to newcomers to the UAD platform. Crossgraders who buy a UAD2 Solo will be entitled to free licences for the Fairchild, Cambridge and Pultec Pro plug-ins, while those who buy a UAD2 Duo will also get the LA 3A and DreamVerb plug-ins. PowerCore users who buy a UAD2 Quad, meanwhile, get all the above plug-ins, plus the Precision suite (comprising the Precision Limiter, Equalizer and Multi-band compressor), for a total of $1322 worth of free plug-ins.
