Ilio have teamed up with renowned keyboardist, producer and composer Jason Miles to create a collection of patches for the Sequential OB-6, the first collaboration between two of the synth world’s biggest names: Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim.
Jason Miles 100 Ultimate OB-6 Patches collates 100 presets for the instrument, which are said to offer the perfect blend of contemporary synthesizer design and vintage soul, utilising the modern features of the OB-6 while drawing inspiration from classic 1980s sounds. The collection includes a huge variety of basses, leads, pads, plucks and more, with Jason employing the mod wheel and built-in effects to ensure the sounds offer plenty of variation and will fit neatly into a wide range of productions.
The purchase of this collection also includes Jason Miles' autobiographical eBook ‘The Extraordinary Journey of Jason Miles’, which includes a foreword by Marcus Miller.
“I have been using various Oberheim synthesizers since 1980, on a few hundred albums over the years. Miles Davis, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan and many others have on their albums Oberheim synthesizers, with patches designed by yours truly. The sound of that two-pole filter just always lit me up and inspired me. Now, 44 years later, the sound still inspires me. I was excited when I heard the first OB-6, the now-famous collaboration between Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim. I immediately got into it and started programming my own sounds. Compatibility
The patches are compatible with the Sequential OB-6 hardware synthesizer, and users will need access to a Mac or PC with a DAW or MIDI utility application capable of opening and sending MIDI (System Exclusive) messages, such as MIDI-OX (Windows) or SysEx Librarian (macOS).
