Lindell Audio announce LiNTEC

Outboard range gains Pultec-inspired EQ

Lindell Audio LiNTEC Vintage Program Equalizer Pultec solid-state analogue outboard EQ

Lindell Audio’s product range offers quite the selection of keenly priced outboard processors inspired by sought-after vintage devices, and with their latest release, they’ve set their sights on Pultec’s famous EQP-1A EQ. LiNTEC still offers the classic individual boost and attenuation controls on each of its bands, but with a solid-state design rather than valve-based circuitry.

The company say that they decided to opt for a solid-state design due to a number of benefits, including a faster transient response and lower noise performance than a valve-based design. It has also helped to ensure tighter tolerances, allowing for improved accuracy when using two units as a stereo pair — all LiNTECs are matched to within 0.25dB of each other — and eases ongoing maintenance as there are no valves to replace. The design employs the same OPA 1731 op-amp used in the VIN and Retro series 500-series compressors, along with custom-designed transformers.

Three of the front-panel parameters are dedicated to the low-frequency band, with large Boost and Atten pots each offering a 10dB range, and sharing a Low Freq five-step rotary switch that places the band at 20, 30, 60, 100 or 150 Hz. Another pair of Boost and Atten pots are provided for the high-frequency band, along with an eleven-step switch that allows the boost to be applied at 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 14, or 16 kHz, and a five-step switch offering attenuation at 4, 8, 12, 16, or 20 kHz. The high-frequency band also features a Bandwidth parameter that offers an adjustable Q value. The left of the front panel houses a VU meter along with the unit’s power and bypass switches; calibration of the meter, along with the unit’s output level, can be carried out using a pair of rear-panel controls.

The LiNTEC’s balanced line-level input and output connections are provided by a pair of quarter-inch TRS sockets, and mains power is accepted via an IEC inlet.
