Noise Makers refresh Binauralizer plug-in range

Three new plug-ins join binaural processing line-up

Noise Makers Binauralizer Pro Studio 2 surround immersive binaural conversion panning plug-in

Noise Makers have announced the launch of three new plug-ins dedicated to binaural processing. Binauralizer 2 and Binauralizer 2 Pro offer an upgrade over the company’s previous Binauralizer plug-in, employing a new HRTF engine that supports elevation, whilst Binauralizer Studio 2 extends the capabilities to higher channel counts, and is capable of converting surround and immersive formats up to 22.2 into binaural audio.

Binauralizer & Binauralizer Pro

Binauralizer 2 is kitted out with full 360° panning capabilities, and now offers higher spatial resolution along with support for elevation thanks to an improved HRTF engine. The company have also improved the SOFA (Spatially Oriented Format for Acoustics) importer, which now allows users to load up to five custom HRTFs for personalised rendering.

The Pro version then introduces a new spatial room effect and provides control over distance attenuation. Both versions are equipped with a pad interface that allows for simultaneous control of width and position, and support six input channel formats: mono, stereo, quadraphonic, 5.1, 7.1 and 8.0.

Binauralizer Studio

Rather than panning, the company’s Binauralizer Studio plug-in is instead dedicated to converting surround and immersive formats into binaural audio, allowing users to solo individual channels and providing a low-pass filter option for the LFE channel.

The latest version benefits from the same SOFA importer upgrade, along with the spatial room effect found in Binauralizer 2 Pro, which is based on binaural room impulse responses (BRIR) measured in Radio France, RFI Labo, Immersive BB and Poly Son Post Production, and features a Room Amount parameter which allows users to gradually adjust their sound from an anechoic HRTF to a full in-situ measurement. It has also gained head tracking support for commercial and DIY trackers including Feichter T3, Supperware and nvsonic. Surround formats up to 22.2 are supported, and three new immersive input formats have been introduced with the update: 4.0.4, 9.1.4 and 9.1.6.
