John Petrucci, guitarist and founding member of prog metal band Dream Theater, has announced the launch of Tonemission, a new brand which he says has been created for guitarists who share his love and pursuit of amazing guitar tones. Their first release, the John Petrucci IR Collection: Vol. 1, contains a selection of impulse responses that capture the exact signal chain used for John’s three most recent albums.
The impulse responses included in the collection have been captured at Dream Theater’s DTHQ studio by John and the band’s longtime engineer and technical collaborator James "Jimmy T” Meslin. The entire signal chains used on the recent records were recreated for the sessions, with the goal of offering the most authentic-sounding emulation of the albums’ guitar tones possible.
A range of different condenser, ribbon and dynamic microphone models were used, each highlighting different sonic characteristics of the 4x12 cabinet. A total of 34 impulse response files are provided in the collection, offering users the flexibility of picking an individual sound, or creating their own mix of different signals to arrive at new, custom tones.
The files are delivered as WAV files in the following six formats:

- 24-bit / 88.2kHz
- 24-bit / 96kHz
