Warm Audio reveal WA-14 Stereo Pair

C414-inspired mics now available in matched pairs

Warm Audio WA-14 Stereo Pair AKG C414 EB brass ring capsule replica

The WA-14 offers Warm Audio’s take on AKG’s C414 EB, one of the most sought-after revisions of the hugely popular large-diaphragm capacitor mic. Today, the company have announced the release of the WA-14 Stereo Pair, making it possible to order a sequential pair complete with a set of accessories and a fitted hardcase.

Built around a custom CK12-style brass capsule, the WA-14 promises to deliver the same sonic performance as the original, with a well-defined mid-range presence and a smooth high-frequency response that lends itself to a wide range of recording tasks and is said to be particularly well-suited to capturing acoustic instruments. High-quality components are employed throughout the signal path and the mic also features a Cinemag output transformer, something which was omitted in AKG’s own later versions.

A pair of three-way toggle switches provide access to cardioid, figure-of-eight and omni polar patterns, along with 0, -10 and -20 dB pad options which help the mic to withstand SPLs of up to 165dB. The new sets contain sequential pairs of WA-14s, which are tested to ensure a tolerance of ±1dB, allowing them to deliver consistent performance for stereo miking applications.

The WA-14 Stereo Pair come in a fitted hardcase along with a pair of microphone clips, two shockmounts, two durable travel pouches and a stereo mounting bar.
