Focusrite announce iTrack Dock

Recording interface for iPad trailed

iTrack Dock from Focusrite

Although not the first on the iPad dock scene, Focusrite's latest offering, the iTrack Dock looks rather good. Compatible with all iPads with Lightning connectors (4th gen iPad, iPad Air and all iPad Minis), the iTrack Dock features two Focusrite preamps, line inputs and an instrument DI, independent stereo monitor and headpohone outputs, and a USB port for connecting class-compliant MIDI instruments and controllers.

The iTrack Dock uses the same mic preamps that are used in the Scarlett range of interfaces, with 48V phantom power for connecting condenser mics and can record 24-bit, 96kHz audio. Also, to set optimal input levels, metering is provided by Focusrite's 'gain halos' – a ring of light around each gain control which changes colour depending on the incoming signal level.
It works with any Core Audio app, so it doesn't matter which recording software you choose to use – Garageband, Auria, Cubasis, or something else entirely.

The iTrack Dock's direct monitoring feature sends your input signal straight to the headphone and main monitor outputs so that you don't feel disconnected from your performance.

Having a USB MIDI port for class-compliant MIDI controller connectivity means that you can start controlling your iPad apps more comprehensively too.

The dock is set to retail for $199.99 around £169.99. For more information, head to the Focusrite website (linked below) and check out the demo below.
