Rodecaster Pro II firmware update

New advanced routing features

RodeCaster Pro II firmware update podcast streaming content creator mixer interface sub-mix routing

Rode have announced the availability of a major firmware update for the Rodecaster Pro II, further expanding the device’s capabilities with a range of new features that include advanced sub-mixing functionality.

The RodeCaster Pro II has received a number of updates since its initial release, with the company implementing a range of features based on user feedback and requests. This latest release continues that trend, with users now able to make independent level adjustments to every audio input for each of the device’s 10 outputs, including the headphone and monitor outputs, Bluetooth channel, on-board recording mix, and all three USB outputs. Rode say that this will be a particularly useful feature for streamers who need to create custom sub-mixes for different destinations, such as stream and chat applications and their own headphone mixes.

In addition to the enhanced routing capabilities, the firmware also brings with it a number of system optimisations and workflow improvements. Voice effects routing can now be applied to individual channels when using Multitrack mode, allowing users to capture effects whilst maintaining flexibility that the mode offers during the post-production process.

The Rode Central companion software has also been updated to mirror all of the new configuration options available on the RodeCaster Pro II, including tools for setting up the built-in APHEX processing, SMART pads, and custom sub-mixes.

We put the RodeCaster Pro II through its paces in the August 2022 issue of SOS, you can check out our in-depth review here.
