Embody’s Immerse Virtual Studio gains Apple Music support

Audition mixes for Apple Music from any DAW

Embody Immerse Virtual Studio Signature Edition Apple Music binaural render any DAW

Spatial audio experts Embody have announced the latest addition to their Atmos room modelling suite, which fully integrates Apple’s binaural rendering technology and allows users of any DAW to monitor and render a spatial mix for Apple Music.

Immerse Virtual Studio Signature Edition Apple Music makes it possible to hear how an immersive mix will sound when played back on Apple’s streaming platform, something which can require complicated workarounds for those mixing in DAWs other than Logic Pro. It is hosted in the same environment as the company’s Alan Meyerson and Lurssen Mastering room-based editions, so those who own one or more of the existing options are able to instantly switch between their virtual room playback and the new Apple Binaural outputs to quickly audition how their mix will translate to the streaming service.

It can be used with any DAW that supports VST3, AU or AAX Native plug-ins, as well as any model of headphones, and supports the use of Embody’s innovative personalised HRTF process to ensure the best possible accuracy for each individual user — Apple Personalized Spatial Audio and Head Tracking features are also supported for users of compatible Apple devices, such as AirPod Max. When using the software in its standalone form, it is possible to route up to two additional inputs into Immerse in order to hear all final rendering formats alongside each other. Once users are happy with their mix, it can be exported as an Apple Spatial Audio-compatible WAV file directly from the plug-in/application.

Compatibility

Immerse Virtual Studio Signature Edition Apple Music is supported on Macs running macOS 12.3 and above. The Personalized HRTF feature requires an Apple Silicon machine with Ventura 13.0 and compatible Apple headphones, and Head Tracking requires Apple Silicon with macOS 12.3 and compatible Apple headphones.

It is available in VST3, AU and AAX Native plug-in formats as well as a standalone application. It is a Mac-only plug-in, as Apple’s binaural rendering is only supported by macOS.

Immerse Virtual Studio Signature Edition Apple Music is available now, priced at either £8$9.99 / month, or £74$99 for a 10-year license.
