IK Multimedia release Sunset Sound Studio Reverb II

Captures three rooms at iconic studio

IK Multimedia Sunset Sound Studio Reverb II room emulation plug-in

Sunset Sound Studio Reverb II is a new standalone and significantly expanded version of IK Multimedia’s popular T-Racks plug-in. The new plug-in captures the sound of Sunset Sound's legendary Studios 1, 2 and 3 using IK's proprietary Volumetric Response Modelling (VRM) technology, which promises to deliver unmatched spatial accuracy and realism.

The new version of the much-loved reverb boasts a Live Room Positioning System that offers up to 27 distinct source locations per studio, all of which were captured acoustically rather than being emulated in the software domain. As a result, moving a source within the plug-in causes the reverb to react in the same way it would in the real space, delivering an authentic and lifelike recreation of the iconic studios. Studios 1 and 3 also feature modelled variable dampening settings that mimics Sunset Sound's adjustable absorption panels.

Two independent reverb engines working in parallel make it possible to combine the plug-in’s Live Rooms, Chambers, Iso Booths, EMT plates and AKG spring reverb models, and each model is equipped with it’s own EQ, stereo control and routing options. The Size control, rather than acting as a simple decay parameter, works by scaling the impulse responses from 0 to 200 percent, delivering realistic-sounding results whilst preserving the tone and spatial properties of the original capture. There’s also the choice of Directional or Omni modes for source sounds, with the former designed to emulate the likes of vocals and guitar cabinets, and the latter mimicking sources such as drums, pianos and ensembles.

The GUI has been updated, too, with the plug-in now presented in a modern 3D interface that offers precise control and provides immediate visual feedback.
