This year’s Sensoria Film & Music Festival is fast approaching, with four days of live performances, live film soundtracks, rare cult film screenings and digital animation shows — and of course, SynthFest UK, set to take place in venues around Sheffield, UK.
Sensoria Pro
Taking place on Friday 4 October between 10am and 5:30pm, Sensoria Pro is a unique gathering of composers, filmmakers, music publishers and game developers. The conference will provide attendees with the opportunity to discuss the latest innovations in music and creative media, as well as serving as a platform to exchange ideas and begin new collaborations.
There will be a Scoring Contest, with artists challenged to score the trailer for Threads, a 1984 post-apocalyptic drama set in Sheffield and written by the author of A Kestrel for a Knave, Barry Hines; a range of talks covering topics including rights advice, funding and podcasting; and a Speed Mentoring session with industry experts hosted in association with De Wolfe Music.
Special guests include Emmy-winning composer Nainita Desai, who will give an illustrated talk covering her huge catalogue of work, including 'Tales of Kenzera', 'Zau', 'The Deepest Breath' and 'Nautilus', the forthcoming action-adventure series for Amazon. The creative team behind the forthcoming TV dramatisation of Bernadine Evaristo’s novel Mr Loverman will also be taking part, including music supervisors Dom Bastyra and Ollie White (Theodore Music) and composer Raven Bush.
- When: Friday 4 October from 10am – 5.30pm
- Where: Showroom Cinema, 15 Paternoster Row, Sheffield
Gazelle Twin Performance
The festival will also include a haunting live performance of Gazelle Twin’s recent LP, 'Black Dog', which is described as a plunge into darkness rooted in the theatrics of the séance and the phenomena of ghosts. From recurring dreams to childhood fears and memories, Gazelle Twin transforms intense personal experiences into resonant songs.
- When: Saturday 5 October at 8pm.
- Where: The University of Sheffield Drama Studio
