Following a three-month beta that saw 200,000 early adopters download over three million packs, Spitfire Audio have announced the official full launch of their new LABS+ subscription.
The aim of the new service is to grants creators access to many of the same core recordings used in Hollywood scores and hit records at an affordable price, while helping them to save the time and effort they might spend searching through sounds on other platforms. In an effort to ensure as many people benefit from LABS as possible, the company will continue to offer a free tier alongside the subscription model.
Alongside the arrival of the new platform, Spitfire have also announced the launch of a new collection of sounds aimed at producers of Amapiano, a genre known for its rolling basslines and log drum rhythms. The collection has been created in collaboration with London-based DJ Shannen SP, and captures a range of performances by the very artists shaping the future of the genre including Major League DJz, Jay Music and MDU aka TRP.
“More people are experimenting with music today. Where our core Spitfire Audio sample packs are designed for professional composers, LABS+ is our way of catering to the growing community of up-and-coming creators — delivering fun, easy-to-use samples while maintaining our dedication to the highest quality of recording and sonic excellence.” - Paul Thomson, Founder and CPO, Spitfire Audio
The monthly fee charged for LABS+ helps to pay royalties to musicians, artists and studios, continuing Spitfire Audio’s support of talent in the music industry — to date, they have distributed over £25 million in royalties from the sales of their products.
