XILS Lab release RingX multi-effects plug-in

Create detailed modulated effects chains

XLIS Labs Ring X modulated multi-effects plug-in reverb delay chorus phaser EQ distortion filter

XILS Lab’s latest effects plug-in, RingX, combines a selection of analogue processor emulations, and comes equipped with a range of onboard modulation capabilities that promise to provide users with all they need to add more life to their music.

RingX features chorus, delay, reverb, phaser, EQ and distortion processors, along with a pair self-oscillating filters — one is a multi-mode filter modelled on the CMS 3320 used in the Elka Synthex that offers 12 / 24 dB low-pass, 12dB high-pass and 6 / 12 dB band-pass modes, whilst the other is an 18dB low-pass design. Each of the effects processors are housed in their own modules and are kitted out with a selection of dedicated parameters, including level and mix settings; up to six can be loaded at once, and they can be placed in any order. There is also a global Stereo Space module, which combines width processing and a virtual microphone distance option in order to create authentic-sounding stereo placement effects.

The top of the plug-in’s GUI houses four input processors, with a gate and envelope follower joined by a module that uses a signal’s transients to trigger an envelope, and a module that can be used to separate a signal based on sibilance or its high-frequency content. There are also Step and Location sequencers which can be used to modulate effects parameters or define which parts of a bar will be processed. A Modulation section provides four source and destination routing options, each equipped with their own Amount control; RingX’s input trackers and sequencer outputs can be selected as modulation sources, and then routed to effects parameters via the Destination menu.

Compatibility

XILS Lab RingX is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.9 and later. VST2.4, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available. It is authorised by PACE’s iLok system, although does not require a physical dongle.

XILS Lab RingX is available now, and is being offered for an introductory price of €69 until 31 October 2023, after which it will cost €179.
