Audient have announced the release of the EVO 16, a 24 in / 24 out USB audio interface that follows on from the success of their EVO 4 and EVO 8 devices. We reviewed both previous models in December 2020, click here to check out the article.
Featuring a high resolution colour screen and utilising Audient’s newly developed Motion UI user interface, the EVO 16 provides a one-knob control system, allowing users to adjust all of the hardware’s parameters directly from the interface whilst the wide angle screen displays the results in real time. The 24-bit/96kHz interface is equipped with eight of Audient’s EVO mic preamps, each providing 58dB of gain, with the on-board converters boasting 121dB of dynamic range. All eight analogue inputs are provided on XLR/TRS combo sockets, accepting both microphone and line level signals, with the first two also featuring JFET instrument inputs. As with the other devices in the range, the EVO 16 comes equipped with Audient’s Smartgain feature, an automatic gain adjustment system which can be used on all eight input channels simultaneously.
There are two independent headphone outputs located on the front panel, with eight line outputs on rear panel TRS connectors completing the analogue I/O count. Two pairs of optical connectors that will accept either ADAT or S/PDIF signals are provided on the rear panel, allowing the EVO 16 to support up to 16 additional channels of I/O. A Word Clock output is also present via a BNC connector, with USB2.0 connectivity available on a USB-C socket.

Further options for the routing and configuration of inputs and outputs along with ultra-low latency monitoring functionality is provided by the EVO Mixer software, with both macOS and Windows operating systems supported.
The EVO 16 is expected to ship in the second quarter of 2022, priced at £399 including VAT$499.
