Waterfall Rotary Speaker
In addition to the new native versions of existing UAD plug-ins, Universal Audio have also announced the release of Waterfall Rotary Speaker, which promises to deliver the most authentic-sounding emulation of a Leslie Type 147 cabinet available today. The company have modelled the device’s entire circuit, including the valve power amp stage, and have captured its unique movement and tonal range using meticulously placed vintage microphones.
Volume and Drive parameters are placed at the top of the GUI, along with individual Acceleration/Deceleration and Speed Trim controls for the cabinet’s horn and drum sections, and a selector switch that offers Fast, Brake, and Slow settings.
A section at the bottom of the GUI then offers a balance control to blend between signals captured using microphones placed in front of the cabinet’s horn and drum sections. The former provides a choice of one mono position, and two stereo positions, whilst the latter allows users to chose between a pair of mono placements.
A selection of presets are also included, which have been specifically designed to cater for a range of sources including vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, and more.
