Sample library experts EastWest have announced the release of the third instalment in their new Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra collection. Hollywood Fantasy Winds captures the sound of a collection of historical woodwind instruments, and features true legato patches along with a wide variety of articulations that help to bring a realistic, powerful sound to fantasy film, TV and video game scores.
Pairs of high and low Irish whistles are present, whilst two Renaissance flutes offer a similar tone to the modern convert flute, but with a more mellow sound thanks to its wooden construction. Three sets of uilleann pipes provide a softer, more lyrical alternative to the sound of the larger bagpipes, and whilst they can be found as solo instruments in other libraries, EastWest say that a sampled ensemble was unheard of until now. Another interesting addition comes in the form of four ocarinas, which promise to offer the perfect choice of instrument for soft, expressive passages.
As with the other offering in the series, the library has been captured in the same space as the company’s acclaimed Hollywood Orchestra, and has been expertly produced by Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix. A range of microphone positioning options with support for surround applications are available within EastWest’s Opus software.

Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra runs in EastWest’s Opus software, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and Macs running macOS 10.13 or later. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
