Native Instruments have announced the upcoming launch of NI 360 (or just 360), a subscription-based service that will replace Komplete Now and offer access to an extensive range of tools from Native Instruments, iZotope and Brainworx — Plugin Alliance products will not be included.
It has already been introduced in a limited fashion, and will be available to a select number of users via the company’s website, with a full launch planned for later in 2024. Those who are not currently able to sign up can add their name to the waiting list here.
There are three tiers available, Essentials (50+ products), Plus (100+ products) and Pro (130+ products), each of which will be continuously expanded with new products as the company approach the full official launch.
Existing Customers
Native Instruments are keen to address concerns that their existing customers may have about the new model, and perhaps the most obvious question is what the new service means for those with perpetual licenses. Thankfully, the answer is simple: the company say that the new service is designed to complement their existing model, rather than replace it, so those who wish to purchase perpetual licenses can continue to do so.
NI 360 will, however, replace Komplete Now, and all existing subscribers will be upgraded to the 360 Essentials tier, and will pay the same as their current subscription price for the first year. A full list of the products currently included in each tier can be found here.
Post-Subscription Access
Another common concern with subscription-based services is what happens once a subscription has lapsed and you need (or want!) to load up an old project that relies on instruments or plug-ins you no longer have access to. In an effort to tackle the issue, Native Instruments have implemented a system where their products will still output audio even without an active subscription, but with a locked set of controls.
Pricing & Availability
The service is being trialed now, and is currently available to a limited number of users while the company gather feedback. The full service is planned to launch later in 2024, with an exact date yet to be confirmed. Prices are as follows:
- Essentials: $15 / month
- Plus: $25 / month
- Pro: $50 / month
