Parallax X from Neural DSP

All-in-one bass guitar processing plug-in updated

Neural DSP Parallax X bass guitar parallel processing cabinet simulation plug-in

The latest iteration of Neural DSP’s bass-focused plug-in has arrived, and claims to provide everything that users need to design their ultimate bass tone. Parallax X builds on the parallel processing capabilities of its predecessor, and introduces a revamped GUI along with a range of enhancements and all new Transpose and Live Tuner features.

As before, the lower section of the plug-in is occupied by a set of processing modules that offer some in-depth tonal sculpting. A Low Compression provides some dynamic control over the low end, and is followed by Mid and High Distortion sections that equip users with independent overdrives that focus on the midrange and high-frequency content of their signal. An Equalizer section follows, housing a six-band graphic EQ for some final shaping. There’s also a comprehensive cabinet-simulation section that features six virtual microphone options that can be moved freely around a pair of speakers, with adjustment over their level, panning and distance.

New to the latest version is a Transpose option that makes it possible to pitch the incoming signal up or down by ±12 semitones, making it easy to alter an instruments tuning. Speaking of tuning, Parallax X now boasts an additional live tuner display located at the bottom of the GUI. The standalone application version has also gained a built-in metronome that supports a range of different time signatures, accent sounds and note values.

Compatibility

Parallax X is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, and there’s also a standalone application. The software is authorised via PACE’s iLok system, but does not require a USB dongle.

Pricing & Availability

Parallax X is available now, priced at €119. It is available as a free upgrade for those who own the original Parallax plug-in.
