Rob Papen have announced the launch of their latest software synthesizer, which is available both as a standalone product and as part of their eXplorer-10 instrument and effects bundle. As its name suggests, WirePluck concentrates on creating plucked instrument sounds, but aims to tread new ground rather than attempting to recreate real acoustic instruments.
Sound Sources
WirePluck features three independent layers that can each be loaded with a combination of the following four sources:
- Wire: a newly developed sound source that sounds a bit like hitting a wire.
- String: Employs custom Karplus physical modelling synthesis.
- FM: a three-operator FM synth with a Pitch Envelope Decay control on each oscillator.
- Wave: a single-oscillator subtractive synth paired with a collection of different filter types.
The instrument also includes a selection of built-in effects modules — including Distortion, Modulation FX, Stereo Delay and Reverb — along with a fully features arpeggiator, a Chord Memory section, a comprehensive modulation matrix and the company’s expressive Ribbon Controller strip.
Compatibility
WirePluck is supported on PCs running Windows 7 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and above. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
Pricing & Availability
WirePluck is available now for $€49. It is also included in the company’s eXplorer-10 bundle.
