After a stellar first season in 2017, Australia By Design Innovation returns to Australian television networks TEN and ONE, from this Sunday, November 11th, from 3pm. Series 2 features seven episodes, each 30 minutes long, and showcases 60 innovations and designs drawn from the thousands of entries for the Australian Good Design Awards.
Peter Freedman AM, Founder and Chairman of RØDE Microphones, is one of the judges on the panel, joined by Sam Lanyon (Executive Director and co-founder of Planet Innovation), Vince Frost (Founder and Executive Creative Director of Frost*Collective) and Edward Khoury (Founder and Managing Director of Form Designs Australia). Other judges doubling as presenters include Rob Tiller (CEO of Tiller Design), Prof Margaret Maile Petty (Executive Director Innovation and Entrepreneurship, University of Technology Sydney), Dr Brandon Gien (CEO of Good Design Australia) and Terri Winter (Founder, Top3 by Design).
Each episode features 10 different innovations, from which a top 10 will be chosen for episode seven. The show’s expert panel of judges will then decide which innovation is most worthy to be titled Australia’s Innovation of the Year.
Mr Freedman is ecstatic to be involved in the second season of Australia By Design Innovations.
“The more I am involved in the Good Design Australia Awards and Australia By Design Innovation, the more passionate I become about Australian ingenuity and innovative thinking everywhere. Design is at the core of so much of our lives — it's the centrepiece of RØDE's success — and the entrants in Series 2 have produced genuinely life-changing advances. Australia By Design Innovations is a great show, and it remains a privilege to be part of it.”
Episode 1 screens on TEN, Sunday November 11 at 3pm; Encore episode on ONE, Saturday November 17 at 12pm. Available internationally on tenplay.com.au from November 12.
