Rode has introduced another new product to their AV tools line-up, the RodeCaster Video. This production console combines advanced video switching, recording and production capabilities with professional-grade audio tools. Designed for video podcasters, live streamers, broadcasters, and content creators, the RodeCaster Video offers a comprehensive, all-in-one solution aimed at both small-scale solo creators and large-scale production teams.
Building on the success of the RodeCaster Pro (reviewed in SOS April 2019), the RodeCaster Video aims to position itself as a powerful tool in modern video production.
RodeCaster Video
The RodeCaster Video is powered by an octa-core CPU and a next-gen video engine, enabling users to manage and switch between multiple video sources with ease. Its scene-based architecture simplifies configuration and switching for complex multi-source layouts.
The console supports six video sources, with four HDMI inputs and two USB-C inputs, allowing for easy connection of cameras, USB webcams and more. On the audio side, the unit features two Neutrik combo jacks paired with ultra-low-noise Revolution preamps for capturing high-quality audio.
RodeCaster Video also features dual internal wireless receivers, making it compatible with Rode’s Series IV wireless microphones. The console offers APHEX audio processing, including Aural Exciter and Big Bottom effects, designed for professional-level sound quality.
Advanced Features
One of the features of the RodeCaster Video is its intelligent auto-switching system, which uses audio cues to automatically switch between video sources. It also offers a green/blue screen function for easy background replacement, and an innovative "Inspect" feature whichs allows quick configuration of inputs and scenes.
Content creators can stream directly to all major platforms via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB, while recording is possible to external USB devices with full multitrack and isolated recording options for extensive post-editing flexibility.
The RodeCaster Video can be fully managed via the Rode Central platform, offering remote control, user-assigned graphics, custom scenes, audio effects and more.
Price & Availability
The RodeCaster Video is not yet available, but is due to cost $1,199 with exclusive availability from B&H. It will begin shipping globally in October 2024.
