UK-based sample library developers Void & Vista have just announced the launch of their much-anticipated follow up to their popular STRANDS and FOLDS instruments. Named FRAMES, the latest instalment in the company’s range is said to combine expressive, characterful and unique sampling with a wealth of powerful sound design features and an inspiring user interface.
Created for contemporary media composers, sound designers and writers of production music, FRAMES promises to deliver a variety of emotive sounds and textures that span a multitude of musical genres. The library has been built around 40 Sound Sources that have been created by capturing “unique, unrepeatable sonic moments”. A selection of instruments and resonant objects have been recorded at 96kHz using specialist microphones, allowing users to ‘pitch down’ content that would usually fall beyond the range of human hearing.
What’s Included?
Here’s how Void & Vista describe each of the five Sound Sources that power FRAMES:
- Instruments: Traditional instruments captured using extended techniques and aleatoric performances.
- Objects: Uniquely prepared objects and instruments played in experimental ways.
- Effected: Heavily processed sounds and resonated objects.
- Textures: Atonal, textural and found sounds, perfect for blending.
- Waves: Sampled synth waveforms taken from a collection of analogue hardware.
The company have paid equal attention to the visual and operational design of the instrument, ensuring that its GUI provides users with an intuitive and inspiring playing experience. A newly introduced Zone Shift function vastly expands the timbres of each Sound Source — the company say that it allows sounds to be morphed from “slow and muted” to frantic and urgent” with each key press. As with Void & Vista’s previous releases, FRAMES features a dual-layer design that makes quick work of blending its core sounds, and comes packed with sound-design tools such as multi-mode filters, a pair of Motion LFOs, six envelopes, a selection of built-in effects and an Ensemble page for blending in additional voices.
As with Void & Vista's previous offerings, FRAMES comes loaded with an array of built-in sound-design tools.

Compatibility
FRAMES runs in Native Instruments’ Kontakt 7.10 or higher, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 12 or higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

FRAMES is available now, priced at £129 including VAT. Void & Vista are offering a 20% discount until 4 June 2025.
