Spitfire Audio’s Hearth and Hollow Plucked Folk Ensemble offered a collection of deeply sampled acoustic folk instruments developed in collaboration with Hunter Rogerson, and was met with an enthusiastic reception from users around the world. They’ve now announced a second collaboration, this time capturing a range of vocal performances in St. John's Anglican Church.
There are four configurable vocals included in Hearth and Hollow Folk Voices: Willow, Juniper, Hawthorn and Forest. The selection comprises three soloists and one ensemble, with each promising to highlight the warm and unique character that each singer’s voice offers. a total of 11 articulations are available, and have been crafted to mirror the practices of indie background vocals and ensure the phrases are “imbued with emotion and character”.
The company say that the library was created with user experience in mind, with the GUI designed to encourage intuitive sculpting and arranging. Each preset is location-based, and allows users to control volume and panning by placing each voice in a virtual room, with the results displayed via an interactive light feature. MIDI CC data can be used to blend vowels and create doubling effects, and plenty of control of the overall sound is provided by a choice of eight signals. Solo patches are provided for each voice for those who’d prefer to spread them across multiple DAW tracks, and the library also comes kitted out with bonus true legato whistling patches and a percussion kit.
Compatibility
Hearth and Hollow Folk Voices runs in Native Instruments Kontakt (version 7.7.3 or higher), which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and higher, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application. The library requires 6.23GB of space.
