Tascam release the SB-16D

16-in/16-out Dante-enabled stagebox

Tascam SB-16D

Tascam have released the SB-16D, a 16-input, 16-output Dante-enabled stagebox that has been designed to work with Tascam Sonicview mixing consoles.

Tascam say that the SB-16D shares the performance and hardware quality as their Sonicview live recording consoles announced earlier this year, using 32-bit analog-to-digital converters and a 96 kHz sampling frequency. It also offers the advantages of Dante networking and can integrate seamlessly with Sonicview mixers and other Dante-enabled products from Tascam, as well as those from other manufacturers.

The SB-16D features Tascam's Class 1 HDIA mic preamps, with an equivalent input noise level of -128 dBu and handling of input levels up to +32dBu. It features signal/clip indicators on the microphone inputs, and 48V phantom power.

When an SB-16D is connected to a Tascam Sonicview 16 or 24 mixer, microphone gain can be remotely controlled from the mixing console, and all inputs and outputs are displayed on the Sonicview touchscreens for easy operation.  In addition, the SB-16D is equipped with 8-in/8-out GPIOs, which expand to 16-in/16-out GPIOs when connected to a TASCAM Sonicview recording mixer, facilitating parallel control. It also includes two Dante ports for redundant streams and can be controlled via Tascam's IO Control app or Sonicview consoles.

The SB-16D has been designed to be rack-mounted with the included brackets to occupy 3U, but is also tough enough to be used as a floor box on stage thanks to its sturdy construction and rubber feet.

The Tascam SB-16D is available now priced at $2499£2569.
