AKG's Battle Of The Bands competition launches at Music Live
AKG, who are distributed in the UK by the Harman Pro group, have announced that they are launching a battle of the bands competition at November's Music Live show at the Birmingham NEC (3rd — 5th November).
Alongside the battle, AKG are running a prize draw, to which all pre-registered attendees of Music Live will be entered. This gives everyone who turns up to the show the chance to win one of five AKG D3700 wireless mic systems.
To enter Unsigned Heroes 2007, bands are invited to submit an MP3 of original material for the judges' consideration. Bands must have at least three performers and they must not submit covers. The competition will be promoted through Myspace but will have a designated web site, www.unsignedheroes.co.uk, where entrants can upload their material and gather full details about the competition.
A panel of top industry professionals will choose 20 bands, whose performances will be viewable on the web site. After a public vote, they will be whittled down to three, who will perform at at London's KOKO Club, alongside a well-known band. Judges will then pick an overall winner from the three, who will win a day recording with a named producer; a gig at a major 2007 festival (unconfirmed rumours say Glastonbury); a massive £10,000 worth of Harman Pro PA, with products from AKG, Crown, JBL, Soundcraft, BSS, Lexicon and dbx; and an AKG microphone endorsement.
The two runners-up will receive AKG mics and endorsement contracts, but may very well catch the eye of one of the many record company representatives at KOKO.
The web site will go live on the opening day of Music Live (3rd November), check it out for full details, or visit Harman Pro's stand at the show.
