IK Multimedia release Syntronik Deluxe

Memorymoog, Korg Mono/Poly, EMS VCS3 and Modular added

We were really impressed by IK Multimedia’s Syntronik virtual vintage synth collection, with its hybrid sampling/modelling approach, when we reviewed it back in the January issue. That first version sported versions of vintage and rare instruments from Moog, ARP, Elka, Oberheim, PPG, Roland, Sequential Circuits, Yamaha and more.

Now, IK have expanded the collection with Syntronik Deluxe, adding five new synths:

  • Memory-V: IK's take on the Memorymoog 6-voice, 18-oscillator monster analogue polysynth
  • SH-V: Based on a pair of two-oscillator Roland monosynths, the SH-5 and SH-2.
  • M-Poly: Based on two Korg SSM-based analogue polysynths, the Mono/Poly and Polysix.
  • VCF3: This is IK’s version of the Dark Side of The Moon synth itself — the EMS VCS3.
  • Modulum: Designed for analogue drums and percussion, this new instrument was created with interconnected Moog Modular, EMS VCS3 and Alesis Andromeda synths.

All Syntronik synths use IK’s DRIFT technology which is designed to recreate the actual sound of vintage synths by subtly varying the phase, colour and pitch of the sampled oscillators to keep them moving.

As with the original Syntronik, Deluxe also features an analogue-modelled filter section that offers seven filter types, with mix and match capabilities. The idea here is that it lets you create unique combinations that have never been heard before. Included are four analogue-modelled filters (M-Type, O-Type, R-Type and C-Type), plus a Classic multimode filter and digital filters like Formant and Phaser.

Also onboard is a full suite of 38 effects with a lunch-box style configuration, along with advanced features like four-part layers, splits and arpeggiators.

Syntronik's instruments and multis can be opened in SampleTank 3 (version 3.7.2 or higher), allowing them to be used individually or as four-part instruments together with the continually expanding range of instruments available in the SampleTank library.

New users can purchase Syntronik for €399.99$399.99. Various other upgrade and crossgrade paths are available, depending on which IK Multimedia software you already own. Syntronik Free is also available as a complimentary download from the IK Multimedia website and is expandable with Syntronik models available individually via the In-App Shop for $49.99€49.99 each.
