Casio Music UK have announced the launch of Casio Sessions, a competition aimed at piano-playing artists which is being held in partnership with global community of music professionals, Loop Music. Entries can be made online by submitting a video audition, with finalists invited to perform at an intimate live event at Casio’s G-SHOCK store in Carnaby Street, London on 21 September 2023. The winner will then take home the company’s flagship Privia Series instrument, the PX-S7000, along with £500 cash.
Piano-playing singer-songwriters across the UK are invited to enter online by submitting a video audition of an original composition — cover songs will not be considered. The competition is open to those aged 16 or over, and all musical styles are welcome. After careful deliberation, 12 entrants will be selected to take part in the live final, which will be judged by Neil Evans and Dan Henry of Casio Music UK and Mohamed a Sawyer and Emmanuel Tchombe of Loop Music.
The winner will be revealed on the night after the performances, where they will be awarded with the grand prize. All of the finalists will also receive a copy of the content captured at the event, including professional photography and videography of their performances.
“We’re excited to kick off Casio Sessions, a competition dedicated to aspiring piano playing songwriters across the country. Alongside Loop Music and its community of musicians and creatives, we hope to shine a spotlight on up-and-coming UK-based talent. Casio has always been proud to support music making and its benefits across all genres and ages. We can’t wait to discover new talent and see how the competition unfolds.” - Neil Evans, Head of Casio Music UK
Entries are open now and will close at midnight on 30 August 2023, with the 12 finalists being selected on 4 September 2023. More information on the competition, along with details of how to enter, can be found on the Casio website.
