Elektron release OS update for Analog Heat +FX

Effects unit gains new features and functions

Elektron Analog Heat +FX OS update

Elektron have announced the release of an operating system update for their Analog Heat +FX hardware unit, delivering a range of interesting new features and tackling some known issues.

With OS 1.01 installed, users will gain access to a new Euclidean mode that makes it possible to randomise parameter pages at the touch of a button, and those who are unwilling to dedicate any of their precious creative time to naming their presets will be pleased to see a Random Name Generator function designed to automatically name saved patches — Elektron say that users should prepare for some unexpected results.

An LFO Slew feature makes it possible to smooth LFO transitions from one position to another with slew, making changes less drastic, and a Momentary mode allows the devices Active key to be used to punch in effects, with the unit returning to a bypassed state upon the key’s release. Additional control has also been provided for the audio output and effects routing thanks to new Output Gain and FX to USB parameters.

Alongside the new features, the company have also addressed the following bugs:

  • Only the default MIDI channels worked for MIDI input
  • There was an inconsistency for the Modulation matrix's DEPTH parameter regarding the resolution of the parameter values
  • The support for BANK and SBANK MIDI messages was missing.
  • Under some circumstances, there could be a timing issue when manually triggering an LFO
  • A previously edited parameter could briefly show in the screen header when adjusting an FX block's MIX parameter
  • The parameter values in the Modulation matrix were not initialised when pressing [MOD] + [NO]
  • There were several issues with the graphical UI on the tap tempo menu when using an external footswitch
  • The output VU metering and clipping indicator were not displayed correctly
