Native Instruments have announced the release of a new piano library that serves as an experimental sequel to the recently released Claire. Developed in collaboration with Galaxy Instruments, Claire: Avant captures a Fazioli F308 concert grand with its lid removed, and features a range of unconventional techniques that are said to bring out the instrument’s raw textures and hidden harmonics.
The Fazioli F308 is renowned for its extended resonance and powerful low end, and Native Instruments say that the new library offers a bold reimagination of the instrument, revealing intricate resonances, overtones and percussive textures that are often lost with traditional sampling approaches. It provides users with a range of innovative sounds that range from metallic hits to deep basses, and encourages experimentation thanks to a collection of scraped, struck, plucked and dampened articulations.
Claire: Avant is said to be the ideal library for film scoring, ambient compositions and experimental productions, with its Particles engine “infusing each note with dynamic harmonic textures and evolving soundscapes”. It also comes loaded with over 40 custom presets for Kontakt’s Pattern tool, allowing users to effortlessly create sequences and randomised textures.
Compatibility
Claire: Avant runs in Native Instruments’ free Kontakt Player (or the full version of Kontakt) versions 8.2.0 or higher, which are supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application. The library requires 31.2GB of disk space.
Pricing & Availability
Claire: Avant is available now, priced at $99£89 / €99. It can also be purchased as a bundle with the Clair grand piano library for $199£179 / €199. GBP prices include VAT.
