Sonora Cinematic release Panorama Acoustic

Captures three distinct acoustic guitars

Sonora Cinematic Panorama Acoustic virtual instrument sample library

Sonora Cinematic have launched an acoustic counterpart to their best-selling Panorama Guitars instrument. Contrasting the post-rock and shoegaze soundscapes of its predecessor, Panorama Acoustic is said to explore a world of resonances and quiet reflections, and offer an inspiring palette of evocative tones.

Built using the company’s powerful Aria Engine, the new instrument centres around a pair of customisable sound layers that are each loaded with a matching set of articulations. An X-Y pad interface makes it possible to blend seamlessly between different variants of the core sounds, as well as simply stacking layers or crossfading between them. Any parameter can be assigned to the X or Y axis, providing expressive control over filtering, modulation, levels, panning and much more.

Three Voices

Panorama Acoustic features the sounds of three acoustic guitars recorded by film composer and guitarist Matteo Nahum. Here’s what’s included:

  • Steel-String Acoustic: Rich, warm and full of harmonic depth.
  • Nylon-String Guitar: Delicate, expressive and intimate.
  • 12-String Guitar: Ethereal, shimmering and immersive.

Over 100 presets are included, and are organised into six categories: Impros Natural, Impros Processed, Motions, Single Strikes, Sound Design and Tremolos. The articulations vary from plucked to picked, sparse to dense, and this release increases the focus on IMPRO articulations — organic, free-tempo one-note improvisations that are said to be great for creating depth and textural movement in more ambient arrangements. The library also introduces Impro articulations that feature fifth and octave improvisations, unlocking a wider range of sounds well suited to cinematic compositions.

Compatibility

Panorama Acoustic runs in Native Instruments’ free Kontakt Player (or the full version of Kontakt) versions 8.1 or higher, which are supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.
