Tracktion have announced the launch of a new plug-in that used wavetable-based processing to offer an innovative take on distortion. Said to be the twisted counterpart of their LOVE plug-in, Dawesome HATE is capable of generating everything from subtle warmth to “total sonic destruction”.
HATE's wavetable-based engine allows users to drag and drop any audio file into the plug-in’s GUI, and will respond by generating a custom saturation profile. From there, a pedalboard-style layout makes it possible to chain together up to six effects modules to fine-tune the results. There are 29 effects to choose from, and they range from classic tools such as compressors and filters to unique sound-shaping modules designed to generate far more dramatic effects.
There’s a whole host of parameters available for those who like to dig in and create their own custom sounds — Drive and Auto Gain functions are joined by the likes of Slice, Flat, Edge and Warp controls, with further tonal shaping offered by Freq Tilt, Punch and Image dials. There’s plenty of factory content, too, and those who are looking for instant mix-ready sounds or a starting point for a new idea will enjoy browsing the collection of over 200 professionally crafted presets.
Compatibility
Dawesome HATE is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.13 or later. VST3 and AU plug-in versions are available.
