Dutch company Tuna DJ Gear want to improve your tablet-based music-making experience. If you find adjusting knobs on a touchscreen with your (perhaps oversized) fingers a rather fiddly business, then Tuna Knobs could be the thing for you.
A Tuna Knob consists of a knob made of conductive plastic that attaches to your touchscreen with a tiny suction cup, and a single stylus point that touches the screen. The knob can be rotated giving you a more familiar — and much more precise — way of controlling music software on your tablet than using fingers alone.
The knobs work with any capacitive touchscreen device and are supported by TouchOSC, Korg iMS-20, Korg iElectribe and iDJ2GO. Support for TouchAble and d(--)b are also said to be coming soon.
The Tuna Knobs are definitely going into production after Tuna DJ Gear reached their funding target on Kickstarter within only 21 hours of it going live! If you want to get your own Tuna Knobs, you can do so via the Kickstarter page for the next 28 days, although shipping is not expected until Novemberof this year.
At the time of writing, it was still possible to buy a single Tuna Knob for €9, and various other amounts up to 10 for €85. As always with Kickstarter, there are other premium options if you really want to show your love including stickers, t-shirts, signed polaroid photos etc.
