New affordable product line from the makers of Warm Audio

512 Audio Limelight

512 Audio are a new Texas-based brand of studio equipment that aim to offer professional-quality gear at consumer prices. The company were founded by the people behind Warm Audio, and it's under WA's auspices that they're releasing their debut products: a duo of studio microphones, plus a pair of headphones and a microphone shockmount and boom arm.

The Limelight is a passive dynamic microphone intended for spoken word, and aimed at the live-streaming and podcasting market. Its moving-coil capsule features a hypercardioid frequency response, intended to minimise pickup of extraneous noises, while its built-in pop filter and switchable high-pass filter are designed to remove plosives and low-frequency rumbles from your vocal recordings.

Next up is the Skylight, a cardioid capacitor microphone designed with sung vocals in mind. Its 34mm gold-plated diaphragm is housed in a capsule that gives it a cardioid polar pattern, while its sound is described as adding “richness and warmth” to your vocal recordings.

Both new microphones are priced at just £189.99 in the UK.

The new 512 Audio Academy headphones, meanwhile, employ traditional 45mm moving-coil diaphragms in a closed-back design, and are said to combine excellent ergonomics with a “superior acoustic seal”. They're priced at £89.99.

Finally, the two microphone accessories: the 512-Pop is a metal-mesh pop filter, priced at £54.99, while the 512-BBA boom arm offers 360 degrees of rotation via its silent, high-tension design, and is priced at £79.99.
