Elka Synthex emulation joins instrument line-up

Arturia’s extensive software instrument collection offers recreations of sought-after classics as well as a range of innovative modern offerings. Their latest release, Synthx V, falls into the former category, offering a detailed emulation of the Elka Synthex.

The instrument faithfully recreates the architecture of the original Synthex, but also includes some enhancements that bring the classic design into the modern era . Its versatile oscillators offer ring mod and pulse-width cross-modulation capabilities, and are joined by the renowned CEM 3320 filter — which has gained a new low-pass mode in addition to its standard high-pass operation — and much-loved chorus effect.

Synthx V’s dual-layer operation offers a selection of different modes including Solo and Duo, the second of which makes it possible to create two separate sounds, and Link, which duplicates the selected layer to the other and pans them hard left and right. Combining the Link mode with the instrument’s Vintage dial will introduce small variations across all of the voices, resulting in a pleasing stereo effect.

Expanding Synthx V’s Advanced Panel reveals a collection of additional features that include Multi-Arp, a module that combines four independent arpeggiators and allows users to craft complex patterns that can target each layer separately; four effects slots that provide a total of 17 built-in effects that range from reverbs and unison processors to distortion; generative melodic sequencing capabilities; assignable ADSR envelopes and advanced modulation routing options; and a versatile set of assignable macro controls.
