Editors Keys launch backlit keyboard through Kickstarter

Save your eyes in low light and save 30% off the full price

Editors Keys are launching the world’s first backlit shortcut editing keyboard through Kickstarter to help solve the problem of low-light working conditions for audio producers.

The new keyboards have been developed to offer an enhanced editing experience and also help to reduce eye strain in the studio. Rather than only a small portion of the key having back lights shine through, Editors Keys have used a new production method which allows the entire key to light up evenly when active. This gives the user the ability to see the shortcuts, text reference and key’s letter which speeds up the editing process.

The company chose to use Kickstarter to enable a much quicker roll out for the product. The company is offering customers 30% off if they pledge now. “As we’re a small business, we usually have to launch the product in one region, then slowly roll out to other countries, which means it can take a long time for some customers to get the products. We hope by running a Kickstarter campaign we can let our fans join in on the journey and help create an instant global roll out.” Said Editors Keys Founder, Mark Brown.

“This innovation should significantly reduce eye strain symptoms such as headaches, sore eyes and difficulty focusing which can occur in situations with poor visibility over long periods of time. This will ultimately improve efficiency for the user & improve eye health in the long term” Said Stephen Hannan, Clinical Services Director of Optical Express.

The keyboards come with a gloss black finish and matt keys for a professional studio look. The company is also offering an extended 3 year warranty with all keyboards. Whilst the keyboard is designed for editing purposes, it still functions perfectly well as a regular keyboard, so you don't need to double up for using Word, email or browsing the web.

The first batch of keyboards will be available for programs such as Avid Pro Tools, Steinberg Cubase, Sonar X3, Ableton Live, Premiere and Sony Vegas at launch. Do get in touch with Editors Keys if you'd like to see more!
