French luthier Patrice Vigier has long produced some of the nicest electric guitars and basses money can buy — he’s also one of the pioneers of using carbon fibre technology in necks. Just over a year ago, Vigier announced that he was ceasing production of his much-loved Arpege and Passion Series III basses, but the announcement caused such a stir among Vigier fans (and there are plenty) that he has agreed to produce a special limited-edition run of these thru-neck lovelies. But when they say ‘limited’ they really mean it — just 25 of them.
The run will include four-, five- and six-string models, with 21- and 24-fret versions and, of course, a fretless. All will feature Vigier’s 10/90 neck system, using alder and maple, and all will sport Benedetti pickups. Form a queue in this direction, please...
