The Crow Hill Company have released Marshal Brass, a new brass sample library that features a unique ensemble designed to evoke emotional and reflective tones. The library combines the sound of a flugelhorn and three euphoniums, all recorded at Assumption Studios in Glasgow, Scotland.
This 12 GB (6 GB when compressed) library was developed in response to requests from composers seeking brass sounds that convey themes of loss, heroism and reflection. It features performances from brass players Mark Addison, Peter Moore, Tom Berry, and Simon Johnson. The Crow Hill Company have chosen this combination of instruments to offer a unique sound that differs from a typical brass ensemble. The euphoniums, often described as a "tenor tuba," have a delicate tuning that provides a unique richness when played together as an ensemble. The flugelhorn adds more character, creating a sound that can be more responsive and nuanced than typical brass instruments.
Christian Henson, composer & co-founder of The Crow Hill Company: “This is a library that's been requested by a bunch of massively successful professionals. As this is a flavour of brass that we believe hasn’t yet been sampled, we thought that we’d deliver what is — for us — a very grown-up library.”
The sampled collection includes various articulations such as Crescendo, Diminuendo, Hairpin, and Sforzando, providing plenty of flexibility for composers to shape their brass parts with more emotional depth. The library is compatible with AAX, AU, VST, and VST3 formats.
