The latest addition to The Crow Hill Company’s series of free instruments has arrived, recreating the sound of the short-lived synth that sparked the birth of acid house.
Appropriately named Vaults: Acid Synth, the instrument kits users out with the sound of Roland’s iconic TB-303 Bass Line, and is presented in a simple, intuitive GUI that’s been designed to make quick work of crafting classic 303-style bass sounds. Two large central dials offer control over the cutoff and resonance of the instrument’s filter, and are joined by a Mod knob that defines how much virtual voltage is sent to the filter, allowing for a range of tonal options. A Decay control assigned to all of the synth’s envelope follows, while Echo and Splosh parameters provide access to some built-in effects. As with the original hardware, overlapping MIDI notes will result in the ‘glide’ effect that the TB-303 is renowned for.
Compatibility
Vaults: Acid Synth is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
Pricing & Availability
Vaults: Acid Synth is available now, and is free to download. As with other Vaults instruments, it’s only available to download for a limited time, and will soon be replaced by the next set of offerings! It will remain available in a user’s account for life, provided they download it before it disappears from the website.
