A mélange of themes and speakers including Toby Alington

The PALM Conference and Seminar this year has a healthy mix of speakers and themes to cater to the needs of entertainment technology professionals in India. Presented at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, 

The event takes place in the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai with a dedicated theme scheduled for each of the three days of the event. PALM will deliver an exciting programme covering key topics on the trends in pro audio, stage sound and lighting, music production, AV install, system integration and other key technologies that shape the present and will shape the future of the industry.

Day 1 (29th May) is themed as Stage Sound & Lighting, while Day 2 (30th May) is themed as Music Production, and finally, Day 3 (31st May) will be AV Install and System Integration. For 2014 programme, the PALM Conference and Seminar has invited world renowned audio engineer Toby Alington to be the keynote speaker.

Broadcast Engineer and PALM speaker Toby AlingtonProud owner of the world-renowned Richmond Studios, and described as a ‘veteran of music television’ by The Times newspaper UK, Alington’s 30 years’ experience in live music soundtracks is second to none. Plus, having won prestigious awards like ‘Studio Engineer of the Year’ and ‘Broadcast Engineer of the Year’, Toby has successfully demonstrated his prowess in the realm of professional audio across many different disciplines. He has recorded many of the world’s finest performers in every corner of the globe, the most popular among them being Adele’s Live at the Royal Albert Hall show which is the highest-selling female-artist DVD of all time.

Throwing light upon the details of his session for PALM this year Alington says, “With real-world examples from this year, including the international broadcast of the 2014 BRIT Awards and the Live to Cinema broadcast of English National Opera’s performance of ‘Peter Grimes’ from the London Coliseum, I will describe the broadcast interface with live show setups, and best practice in the interface between live shows and their broadcast on Day 1.”

Other speakers include Lloyd Bosco Albuquerque (Lighting Designer), Bart Kresa (Projection Designer), Fredrik Svanhberg (Marketing Director, Dataton), Samir Kriplani (Live Sound Engineer), Daman Sood (Sound Recording Engineer), Kunal Mehta, (Sound Desginer), Parikshit Lalvani (Sound Designer), Milind Raorane (Acoustic Consultant), Soichiro Hayashi (Senior Systems Engineer) and Narinder Pal Singh (Owner- Audio Jewellers).

Some of the topics that they will be touching upon include presentation on stage, live production of sound and light, mic placement for studio recording, and the performance of sound reinforcement speakers.

With the Conference and Seminar being a paid affair this year, add-ons include access to all proceedings and also to the speaker presentations that will be made available on the PALM Expo website a week after the conclusion of the exhibition.
