Ever since buying Sphere Recording Consoles, owner Duncan Rowe has been planning to restart production of consoles. Although he started out my making preamps and launching them in the 500-series format, now the desk is finally becoming a reality. It has 16-channels, eight mono busses, and a stereo master bus and comes loaded with 16 Sphere Fab500 discrete mic preamps, 16 SPhere 900 Graphic EQs, two aux and two cue sends and 16 direct outs.
Sphere, in their 1970s heyday, were a major console maker with a particularly strong user base in the US. With the Eclipse Alpha 2, Rowe is hoping to bring the Sphere sound to a new generation.
