The latest addition to The Crow Hill Company’s growing product range has been designed for fans of aggressive-sounding drums, and promises to deliver everything you need to create award-winning action scores in a single plug-in. Concussion Drums contains over 50 sampled instruments, and comes loaded with a wealth of built-in mixing and processing capabilities.
The plug-in features eight dedicated drum tracks, and includes a library of drums and percussion instruments organised into seven categories: Kit, Concert, Traditional, Cymbals, Metals, Attic and Strings. It’s possible to create custom keyboard maps for loaded kits, and each track is equipped with its own dedicated filters, EQ, compression, envelope shaping, preamp drive emulation, sub-harmonic control and effects sends. Alongside its sample-based facilities, Concussion Drums also makes it possible to augment each drum sound with synthesized counterparts to enhance the sound further.
There’s an eight-step multi-tap delay processor that boasts volume, pan and filter steps, as well as an onboard reverb processor and multi-band limiter that helps to apply the finishing touches to a created sequence’s dynamics. A Key Effects system then allows effects returns to be played in the same way as the drums themselves, allowing users to trigger delays, reverbs, distortions and other creative effects such as stutters and glitches rhythmically via their keyboard.
Compatibility
Concussion Drums is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available. Garageband is not currently supported.

Concussion Drums is available now, and is currently (27 July 2024) being offered at an introductory price of £129, reduced from its full cost of £199. Prices include VAT.
