New active monitors from ESI
Audio hardware manufacturers ESI have added a new pair of monitors to their Near range of active nearfield reference speakers. Each Near 08 Experience monitor sports an eight-inch woofer and a one-inch tweeter, with 70W amplifiers powering each driver.
The monitors’ low-frequency driver cones contain kevlar, which ESI say allows their frequency response to go as low as 40Hz. What’s more, the company say that “the new Near 08 Experience deliver unparalleled punch in the low-mid frequency”, although users can tune the speakers somewhat, using rear-panel-mounted frequency-response adjustment controls.
Inputs to the monitors are on XLR and quarter-inch jack sockets, the latter of which can accept either balanced or unbalanced signals.
