Following on from last year's major update to version 3, Native Instruments’ ever-popular drum machine and sampling platform has just been treated to its first revision of 2025.
Launched in November 2024, Maschine 3 introduced a whole host of powerful new features including built-in stem separation, enhanced MIDI editing capabilities, an overhauled instrument library and much more. As you might expect, the most recent update is a little lighter, although it does bring with it a much-requested feature. With the latest version of the software installed, Maschine users will be able to take advantage of a new User Chords system, enabling them to create, save and share their own banks of chord progressions, making it easier to explore new harmonic structures and progressions. Additionally, the standalone application is now kitted out with a fullscreen mode.
What’s Next?
Alongside the launch of Maschine 3.1, Native Instruments have also revealed some details on a series of updates that are set to be released throughout 2025. Here’s what’s on the way:
- Maschine 2 on Maschine+ (Q1): An update with new effects and stability bug fixes for Maschine 2 on Maschine+. It will also allow for changing the sample rate and buffer size for extended compatibility.
- Maschine 3 on Maschine+ (Q2): Support for Maschine 3 on the standalone Maschine+ platform is in development. The update promises Kontakt 8 support alongside the highly requested bounce-to-audio feature, unlocking access to more CPU-intensive instruments.
- Maschine+ Content Releases (2025): The Maschine+ library will be expanding this year, with new Kontakt instruments including Play Series instruments set to join the Maschine line-up.
- Several More Maschine 3 Feature Releases (2025): Expect free feature updates for Maschine 3 throughout the year, beyond what’s already been announced.
